At the end of the day, light the barbecue and enjoy the balmy evening temperature as the sun goes down, and see the magical night sky appear.  With no light pollution, you will be in awe of the brilliance of the stars and the breathtaking Milky Way.

Whether you prefer to enjoy the peace and quiet of this rural area, or prefer the bustle of a more cosmopolitan area, you will find plenty to please you.

There are numerous pretty medieval bastide villages to enjoy with their narrow streets, picturesque houses, sheltered arcades and village squares where is hard not to stop for a coffee or a glass of something refreshing, and watch the world go by. The pace of life is so different when you are on holiday!   Penne d'Agenais, Lauzerte, Beauville and Montjoi are particular favourites.  For a day-trip, a visit to Cahors with its 14th century Pont Valentré, and then to the gorgeous village of Saint Cirq Lapopie, perched on the cliffside above the River Lot.

For a livelier day out, head to the exciting city of Toulouse for excellent shopping and perhaps a trip to the Space Museum or a tour of the Airbus factory.

Food plays such an important part in life in this area, and so much of the entertainment provided reflects that.  Many villages now have a Night Market where locals and holidaymakers alike can choose from the variety of cooked meals, then enjoy a convivial atmostphere with holidaymakers and locals alike, and maybe join in the dancing to a local band.
Music is another love in the area, and you won't have to go too far to find anything from a band playing in a local cafe, to an openair concert or a jazz festival.
